MACROCOSMI

Ordnungen anderer Art, Off-centre bodies21 January - 7 April 2015

CUBO in Porta Europa - Spazio Arte, Piazza Vieira de Mello 3
21 Jan 2015 - 07 Apr 2015

On the occasion of the 39th edition of Art Fair, CUBO presents MACROCOSMI – Ordnungen anderer Art, Off-centre bodies, curated by Martina Cavallarin and Pascual Jordan in collaboration with Forum Der Kulturen. The project moves in the international space of Contemporary Art, along an axis of creativity and conjunction that goes from Bologna to Berlin and from Berlin to Bologna with the Berlin Art Week.

The structure of the project includes an artistic and intellectual dialogue between authors and artists that conform with, differ or are similar to each other in terms of stylistic, poetic research and investigation of the transitory, i.e. of those “off-centre bodies” that are always out of focus, never pre-established and in continuous transformation like our society.

MACROCOSMI is, in a nutshell, openness to different points of view, to constantly changing perspectives, to systems that are not static but rich in variables thanks to the vision and imagination the work of art invites.

In the CUBO Art Space, therefore, an artistic comparison of European breadth takes place where the artists measure themselves between connection and dialogue, establishing a relationship with the place where the works live by investigating issues of relationship, transparency and reliability. The exhibition is accompanied by a video documenting the process through which each artist arrived at the final result, the work and its sharing and habitation of the space. A narrative in images constructed from photographs, sketches, writings and video  frames , the story of the Off-Centre Bodies.

The CUBO Art Space will trigger the connection between art and city: MACROCOSMI will bounce around the city of Bologna: first, at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Bologna, which is joining the project as a partner, hosting a multimedia installation by Branka Pavlovic, a workshop and a round table shared with the Berlin Association NGBK, neue Gesellschaft fuer bildende Kunst, in a relationship of dialogue and connections that will see four young artists, trained within the Academy itself, participate in an artistic/curatorial project in Berlin during Berlin Art Week in September 2015.

Following this, MACROCOSMI will circulate in the performance spaces of the Sala Studio of Teatri di Vita, a place for original theatrical promotion already recognised by the European Commission for the originality and innovative value of its offerings. Teatri di Vita, also a project partner, proposes an event that will take place in space at Via del Pratello which will host a series of performances and actions focused on dialogue and interactions between artists and the public as well as a collective exhibition.
We will once again enter the Bologna galleries involved in this two-way exchange. A comparison to explore affinities and differences between Italian and German artists, investigate social themes, and move from the singular to the plural, from the private to the public. The artistic dialogue will take place between the following galleries: L’Ariete arte contemporanea, Adiacenze, Spazio Testoni – La2000+45, Contemporary Concept artgallery, Galleria Studio G7, Duepuntilab association, Galerie Gilla Loercher, Werkstattgalerie, Galerie Jordan-Seydoux, Galerie Grundemark-Nilsson and Galerie Janine Bean.

The MACROCOSMI project enjoys the patronage of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rome and, on the occasion of Berlin Art Week in September, of the Italian Embassy in Berlin, with the support of the Cultural Affairs Department of the Land of Berlin.
