Green Community. God save the green.

  • Saturday 31 October 2015 at 17:00

Since 2007, the population living in cities has surpassed those living in the countryside. And yet, today of all days, the need for men to plunge their hands into the earth resurfaces powerfully. There are vegetable gardens on
roofs of skyscrapers and buildings, cultivated fields on the fringes of deprived and impoverished suburbs, gardens in jute sacks and recycled plastic bottles. God Save the Green (Italy, 2013) recounts some of these experiences: the last garden in one of the most densely populated neighbourhoods of Casablanca; community gardens in Berlin; cultivation in sacks in the slums of Nairobi; roof gardens in Turin and Bologna. A fresco of a world that has redefined its existence through urban greenery.

Introduced by directors **Michele Mellara** and **Alessandro Rossi**.

Green Community. Voices of transition.

  • Saturday 31 October 2015 at 18:30

How will we provide for our nutrition in the near future? What are the alternatives to industrial agriculture?
The film ‘Voices of Transition’ (France/Germany, 2012) by **Nils Aguilar** tries to answer these questions and others concerning the contradictions inherent in our system of industrial agriculture. The work points to a path towards a new model of human existence, where earth and man support each other in a balanced and sustainable system. This inspiring documentary puts the spotlight on a new global movement, in which we meet researchers, agronomists and pioneers of the Transition Town movement who guide us to communities already in transition towards local resilience.

Introduced by **Massimo Giorgini** of Transition Italia.
