Hate speech and digital discrimination

  • Thursday 12 November 2026 at 10:00 - 12:00

We will analyse the phenomena of cyberbullying and hate speech, gender bias and digital stereotypes, which are often fuelled by algorithms. We will also reflect on standards of beauty, body dysmorphia and online discrimination, using real-life cases and legal references (defamation, threats, impersonation, civil liability and Italian Law 71/2017). Particular attention will be paid to digital monitoring of partners and power imbalances in online relationships.

Specific risks, consent and legal liability

  • Tuesday 24 November 2026 at 10:00 - 12:00

The digital sharing of images and videos, if done without due care, can lead to the unlawful dissemination of intimate content, with serious consequences for the person involved. We will explore digital rights and learn how to protect ourselves and recognise discriminatory and violent behaviour. We will also find out how the law protects dignity, privacy and personal image and imposes specific liabilities for those who offend, discriminate against or harm others online.
