CUBO introduces Between Home and Wisdom by Tommaso Fiscaletti, with an introductory text by Filippo Maggia, director of the Modena Photography Foundation. This is the second exhibition in the IN-CUB-AZIONI series, annual events aiming to create a link between Bologna and the international art scene. The idea is to discover the energy and talent of major artists from different social and cultural contexts.
Between Home and Wisdom is Fiscaletti's first South African project, created in Cape Town (where he has lived and worked since 2013). This show is its Italian debut. It is the result of research that became a sociological investigation conducted using images, which documents the daily life of a community of Xhosa women, many of whom are Sangoma.
In African culture, the Sangoma people practise ancestor worship. They help others with this gift. Thus, they play 'a delicate and sensitive role in society, a true mediation between a complicated and difficult present and a past of long and rooted traditions, which it is necessary to look at even today' (text cited by F. Maggia).

The young photographer spent time observing the place and people in everyday life. Having identified each scene, he worked with the light to capture the atmosphere lingering over the area and the subjects with photography. This led the artist to construct a project that had as its central element this different approach to life, split between the solitude of worship and social life.
The exhibition offers a landscape appendix that allows you to enter the dimension of a land as full of contradictions as South Africa.
