CUBO proposes a series of meetings to create space for reflection on the creative and recreative scope that speech has in the processes of social, cultural and political change. What is the role of speech in our existence? What weight does it have in social policies and in the processes of inclusion and participation? It is important to take care of speech, so that its individual and collective regenerative potential never fails.

Speech, the art of listening and exploring possible worlds

The meeting aims to offer reflections on speech as a tool for exploration, engagement and individual and collective transformation, and on how listening can become a social tool for activating, promoting and implementing participatory paths and active citizenship.
The guest of the meeting is **Marianella Sclavi**, an expert in creative conflict management and author of the book "L’arte di ascoltare e l’esplorazione di mondi possibili" (The Art of Listening and Exploring Possible Worlds), in a discussion with **Giovanna Vaccaro**.
Speech, migration policies and the fight against hate speech

The meeting starts from the analysis of certain terms used in the context of migration policies to show how we can trace the logic and vision that animate them. The speech used by mass media plays a decisive role in the construction of stereotypes and prejudices in the collective imagination. Starting from speech, we can intervene to heal the wounds inflicted by hatred and discriminatory practices.
**Giovanna Vaccaro** talks with** Federico Faloppa**, professor of Italian History and Sociolinguistics at the University of Reading and coordinator of the national network to combat hate speech and phenomena, and **Fulvio Vassallo Paleologo** Lawyer and Professor at the University of Palermo. He currently works to defend migrants and asylum seekers.
