General Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa experienced forty years of Italian history. The war, the Resistance, operations against brigands and bandits, the fight against the terrorism of the Red Brigades and the Mafia. He was one of the most popular, respected and feared figures of our post-war period, an investigator capable of understanding people and criminal phenomena like no other, until his tragic death in the ambush in via Carini, Palermo, on 3 September 1982.
