Three meetings on the culture of wine, from the legends and founding myths of Western culture to the historical roots of its production, from its symbolic value to its liturgical use, up to exploring its social function and its role within human relationships. Gabriele Marchesini interprets selected pieces and poems on the theme of wine, and each of the meetings includes a group tasting of a wine associated with the evening’s theme. All the wines selected for tastings are produced by Tenute del Cerro.

In Italian, the vine plant (vite) and the term life (vita) have the same root, from which we can understand the profound connection between wine and humanity. Through readings by authors, revelations and considerations, the event tells the story of wine starting from its birth.

Praise of Wine from the Sacred to the Profane

Wine has always been sung about and drunk: it is an element that has had a disruptive impact on social and behavioural aspects in every culture. Wine has been loved and forbidden; it is the most popular drink and at the same time also the most exclusive; wine as a social mediator. It is said that a man is what he drinks, so can we understand a man by the wine he orders? During the meeting, there will be readings by authors.

Wine and Love

The relationship between the feeling of love and wine is ancestral, ancient. There is no literature that does not talk about this relationship in a passionate, sad, languid, melancholic, sensual way... this encounter leads the audience through all these ranges of sensations and feelings. During the meeting, there will be readings by authors.
