In collaboration with the University of Bologna, CUBO hosts Changes. Discoveries of yesterday in today’s daily life, modern research for the near future, an event to explore the secrets of chemistry, to experience the important innovations introduced in everyday life first-hand and to glimpse the great expectations for the very near future under the banner of sustainability.

Moments of discussion and study alternate with shows and conversations during the evening.

Chemistry between present and future

What energy sources will we use in the future? What materials? What will we do with the plastic covering the planet? The group of students of **Conoscere la Chimica** [Knowing Chemistry] will answer this and other questions, accompanying us in the enchanted world of chemistry with experiments, loud explosions and modern devices, following the path of a nylon thread to discover the cycle of plastic from its synthesis to its disposal.

Dialogues on a timeless table

**Marco Ciardi**, professor of the Department of History, Culture and Civilisation, tells the fascinating story that led to the discovery of the Periodic Table of Elements, the document that changed the way science was viewed. **Margherita Venturi**, Professor of the Department of Chemistry ‘G.Ciamician’, tells of the many scientists who have helped add new elements to the table with work that is as important as it is very often unknown.**Vincenzo Balzani**, professor emeritus Alma Mater, shows that technological progress must also, and even more so in the future, will have to deal with the Periodic Table which despite its 150 years continues to dominate the scene of the scientific world.

The electric racing bike

from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the garden:
- the **UniBo MotorSport Team presents Alpha Leonis, the electric racing bike**.The very young team will be available to illustrate the bike, turn it on, explain its performance and components, and let you ride it.
- Learn about **BETTERY** and the **patents** deriving from its research. Discussions and small experiments with the all-female team whose research led to the patenting of a new liquid battery, NESSOX.
