Beverly Pepper: Launching art into the public arena
Connective Art, Querencia, Nonumento. Her message, her legacy, today 27 november
Leading figure and pioneer in the current debate on the value of public sculpture in the contemporary social, cultural, political and environmental context, Beverly Pepper is an artist to be explored through her work, her language, her thinking and her approach to sculpture, still to this day.
This focus day, divided into presentations ranging from the latest archival theories and practices to contemporary plastic arts research and iconological and semiotic studies of the arts, provides a fascinating opportunity for critical reflection on the meaning of public art, at a time in history characterised by inevitable questions about the impact of the visual arts on international geopolitics.
