Between Wine and Philosophy, between Nature and Culture

Wine and sensations between the past and the future will accompany us on this unusual journey, a comparison of “Nature” and “Culture”. A guide to reflection through an experience that involves both the senses and the mind, carried out from an unusual perspective, capable of amusing and surprising us.
Starting from the guided tasting of a wine, we will explore the relationship between wine and the senses, the concept of identity, without forgetting the ancient Latin motto “in vino veritas”.
The philosophical discussion will be accompanied by a tasting of a selection of wines from Tenute del Cerro.

Wine and the five senses

The structured and guided wine tasting will be the stimulus for reflecting on the five senses and, in particular, on the importance of exercising them.
The meeting will be dedicated to thinking about the overall complexity of human perception, in the continuous interaction between the sensory and intellectual dimensions.

Each wine expresses a very specific identity, that of the territory in which it was produced, or, more properly, of the terroir. If these are the elements that make up the identity of a wine, what contributes to the construction of human identity? In other words: who are we really? Where and how does our self emerge? What is the role of drinking wine in this?
In vino veritas

"The truth is in wine". Starting from the historical roots of this Latin proverb, we will investigate its meaning in contemporary times. What makes it hard to tell the truth? The meeting will be dedicated to reflecting together on the concepts of sincerity and lies and the complex relationships between them.

Wine has been culture since the beginning, it is the result of studies and a deep rooting and transmission of the knowledge of civilisation to civilisation. There is instead a great deal of discussion about natural wine today, but what does that really mean? Starting from wine, together we will explore the concept of natural, within the classic dichotomy in philosophy between nature and culture.
