Three ways to show respect

Three meetings to address some social phenomena underlying discrimination and violence, from various points of view. Social media and music often convey hate speech and disrespectful attitudes that may even turn into actual crimes, sometimes unknowingly by the perpetrators. Let us build new forms of awareness and sensitisation together, to combat prejudices and stereotypes.

Building empathy and self-esteem

Sometimes the actions of online and offline bullying generate devastating consequences for the victims and leave indelible marks, involve the entire relational ecosystem and at times lead to tragic endings. The actions required to combat this phenomenon require work on abilities and an awareness of technological means. The key words of this meeting are empathy, self-esteem and desire.
Stereotypes, web and social media

A discussion of stereotypes and their representation on the web and in social media. An opportunity to reflect on the representational patterns that shape contemporary
imaginaries. Gender, ethnic-racial and social stereotypes will be addressed, with a special focus on the questions of language and consent.
Hip hop philosophy: prejudices and virtuous examples

Hip hop has contributed to overcoming ethnic and social barriers and has been a positive catalyst for generations, but certain cultural issues have obscured its innovative scope over time. The discussion includes a historical introduction of the phenomenon from the 1970s to the present day, and an examination of the stereotypes that permeate this musical genre with lyrics and video clips filled with sexism, money worship, substance abuse and homophobia. Lastly, some virtuous examples will be highlighted.
