The future, now – between awareness and AI

Teaching module for junior secondary schools 12 - 19 - 26 February 2026

Streaming
12 Feb 2026 - 26 Feb 2026

The large offer of online platforms designed for the younger generations and the ease of use of freely downloadable apps, together with a lack of knowledge of how the digital world works, make it necessary to provide the new generations with the cognitive tools they need to operate in this environment in an informed manner. This course addresses some crucial aspects of digital communication, because, if the related behaviour is distorted, it can be a harbinger of serious consequences. We will also delve into the topic of Artificial Intelligence, with a look at aspects related to fairness, transparency, non-discrimination and respect for human rights.

Haters, cyberbullies and influencers

  • Thursday 12 February 2026 at 10:00 - 12:00

When it was first created, the web was not designed as a place for children, so no specific protections for minors were adopted. The spread of digital devices among the very young, who start visiting social networks much earlier than the law would allow, exposes them to dangers of which they are unaware. The aim of the first meeting is to introduce youth to some of the 'characters' that populate the web. We will talk about Internet celebrities, cyberbullies, influencers, scammers and more, with the aim of providing attendees with tools to recognise the dangers and defend themselves.

Smartphones: freedom of expression or conditioning tool?

  • Thursday 19 February 2026 at 10:00 - 12:00

Recent estimates state that half a million young people in Italy are addicted to social networks. The objective of the second meeting is to provide attendees with elements of self-awareness to reflect on the consequences that excessive dependence on digital devices can have on their development.

Magic AI: is all that glitters gold?

  • Thursday 26 February 2026 at 10:00 - 12:00

If AI is used with little awareness, it can lead to problems such as loss of creativity, disinformation, the possibility of being manipulated or the creation of inaccurate and unverified content. It is important to reflect on how AI can affect the rights of all of us. The aim of the third meeting is to make attendees understand what AI is, what its risks are and how it can be useful, especially for young people.
