Science: experiments for learning
Teaching module for junior secondary schools 7 -21 November 2024
CUBO proposes three events dedicated to those scientific subjects that are considered to be remote from everyday life but which we deal with every day: chemistry and physics.
During the three meetings, simple experiments are carried out live, showing how what seems intangible and inexplicable in books is in fact Science that we experience daily.
In collaboration with Calipso Lab
Liquids and fluids
- Thursday 7 November 2024 at 10:00 - 12:00
We explore the liquid form of matter. During the session, students are presented with simple and fun experiments, carried out live by the instructor using readily available materials, on topics relating to the principle of communicating vessels and capillarity, the miscibility of liquids, and non-Newtonian fluids.
Sound and waves
- Thursday 14 November 2024 at 10:00
We learn how sound is made up and discover how we can see it. The instructor performs some simple experiments live on the topic of sound propagation, vibrations and sound waves.
Light
- Thursday 21 November 2024 at 10:00 - 12:00
We investigate the phenomenon of light, the light spectrum and the distribution of electromagnetic waves. During the session, the instructor performs some simple experiments on refraction and optical effects to illustrate the topics covered.
