Storytelling theatre winter camp for 12-17-year-olds 27 – 30 December 2021
Theatre and playing are worlds where anything goes. Yet these imaginative and playful worlds are becoming increasingly rare and inaccessible, as they are being replaced by much less “human” and more digital games that straight-jacket the imagination into more solitary practices.
This workshop aims to explore our relationship with the imagination and our innate ability to be something else, to tell stories, to feel free even in the company of others.
Playing and theatre develop and put to the test a whole range of different abilities, but they are also areas of creative freedom. They are realms full of adventure, exploration, and thrills.

Worldbuilding

The first class involves the collective and participatory construction of the world that will be explored during the Storytelling phase. In this lesson all the students, under the teacher’s guidance, will contribute to the creation of the shared universe through texts, images and sounds.
Character creation
- Tuesday 28 December 2021 at 14:30 - 18:30
Based on what was developed in the first world-building event, the main characters of the story are outlined. Character cards are filled in and archetypes are identified. Students will think about how a character works, how they behave, what their objectives are and the impetus that moves them.
Setting exploration
- Wednesday 29 December 2021 at 14:30 - 18:30
During this lesson, we will explore the world outlined from the point of view of the characters. By identifying with the characters, the story comes to life and the choices that will lead the characters to develop their narrative arc begin.
Climax
- Thursday 30 December 2021 at 14:30 - 18:30
In the fourth and final session we get to the heart of the story, and the plot begins to unfold and reaches its climax. We will explore the characters' choices and the relationships that are established between them to reach the end of the story.
