How intelligence is born

Robotics workshop for 13 -17 year olds

Milan - CUBO at Unipol Tower
16 Jan 2026 - 30 Jan 2026

A workshop that explores the evolution of human intelligence through educational robotics, using LEGO Mindstorms kits as tools to engage in active experiments involving the processes and mechanisms that have acted as mainstays for this fascinating development.

We study three progressive levels to discover how to program our LEGO Mindstorms, so that they simulate the behaviours that have characterised this extraordinary evolutionary process: from simple coordinated movement to the capacity to react to the surrounding environment, all the way to abstraction and creativity.

Each level is a step forward in understanding intelligence, an educational pathway that skips between discovery, logic, programming and reassessment; the technology feeds into the learning experience by adding interactivity, practical experimentation and fun.

By enrolling in the first lesson, the participant will be automatically registered for the entire duration of the course.

Motor intelligence, coordination for existence

  • Friday 16 January 2026 at 17:00 - 19:00

We will learn to program robots so that they can move on the game mat, from one point to another, to complete a set of coordinated movements.

Reactive intelligence, survival responses

  • Friday 23 January 2026 at 17:00 - 19:00

Now, our robots must be able to respond to stimuli because a capacity to react is essential for a survival instinct.

Creative intelligence, imagination for innovation

  • Friday 30 January 2026 at 17:00 - 19:00

Intelligence reaches its final stage: creativity and imagination step in to solve more complex problems, in a more innovative way.
