CUBO LIVE – places, ideas, voices, events – is the festival of live performances organised by CUBO throughout Italy in particularly evocative venues.
In Bologna, the historic location of the Gardens of Piazza Viera de Mello will feature a range of Italian song-writing, jazz and classical music.
Summer evenings under the city sky for all those with are curious, passionate and enjoy listening to music in the company of others.
Cécile McLorin Salvant is one of the leading lights of the new generation of female jazz vocalists. Born and raised in Miami, she began her classical singing studies there, before continuing her training in France, where her focus turned to jazz. After a few years of training, she won the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, the main gateway for young talent into the upper echelons of professional music. Since then, Cécile has released seven albums, winning three Grammy Awards and topping the DownBeat critics’ poll.
The Jazz Journalists Association also had no doubts, naming her Best Female Vocalist of the Year in 2015 and again in 2022. In her personal interpretation of African-American music, jazz, vaudeville, blues and folk are closely intertwined.
The powerful themes explored in her songs – often drawn from forgotten repertoires – allow her voice to display its full interpretative intensity, supported by a wide vocal range whose perfect control reveals her classical operatic training.
In collaboration with the Bologna Jazz Festival.
The show is part of Bologna Estate 2026, the programme of activities promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Bologna and the Metropolitan City of Bologna – Bologna-Modena Tourism Area.
In the event of bad weather, the show will take place at the Unipol Auditorium Enea Mazzoli, via Stalingrado 37.
