Time flows on, relentlessly, and our lives tick on with it. We are all aware of this, we experience it first-hand. And yet, when asked to say "what we mean by time" we are at a loss for an answer.
“If nobody asks me, I know what it is, but if I am asked to explain what it is, I no longer know", is what Sant Augustine, in the 5th century A.D., said about time. Philosophers, scientists and religious figures have tried to provide us with an answer… but what does physics say today?
