Readings of passages and poems on the theme of wine. Bologna, 14 January - 18 March 2025
Three meetings on the culture behind wine, from the legends and founding myths of Western culture to the historical roots of its production, from its symbolic and magical value to its use in literary and artistic endeavours, even examining its social function and its role within human relations.
Gabriele Marchesini performs selected pieces and poems on the theme of wine together with Emanuele Marchesini, as a wine specialist, who will describe the particular characteristics of a wine associated with the theme of the evening.
All the wines selected for tastings are produced by the Tenute del Cerro winemakers.

Wine and magic

This mysterious energy, which we call magic, is the source of all supernatural and metaphysical beliefs, which has also been the basis of religious sentiment. Esoteric rituals, primordial rites of various cultures, practices of white, red or black magic, almost all have wine as one of their main ingredients. In fact, this "elixir", which man has extracted from one of nature's fruits, has a sacred and fascinating value, which is often hard to appreciate.

The evening is dedicated to literature as a tool for human identity and its connection with wine, which is interwoven with written stories and the lives of writers.

Wine, a beverage that has always been sacred to all gods, has over the millennia occupied a prominent role in the sphere of feelings, sensations of the body, mind and psychology of human beings. During this event we intend to examine a whole range of different texts, each of which can help investigate what each of us has experienced in our daily lives and in those of our fellow men.

This last meeting, with the help of images, addresses the relationship between wine and figurative artistic production, a constant in human expression, from antiquity to the present day. It will point out how this bond has always accompanied our human traditions and everyday existence, even in its visual representations.
