Lights of Jazz
The concert series that makes the top floor of the Unipol Tower vibrate with all the energy, elegance and timeless charm of jazz music is back. A beloved and now unmissable event, capable of transforming every evening into an experience to be enjoyed down to the last note, amidst evocative atmospheres and a unique panorama that makes everything even more special.
Two unique evenings that will take the audience on an immersive sonic journey: on the one hand, Trio Correnteza offers a passionate tribute to the undisputed maestro of bossa nova Tom Bobim; on the other, Guano Padano subvert convention by fusing retro flair with an experimental spirit.

Trio Correnteza

Correnteza means river current in Portuguese and is the title of a beautiful song by Tom Jobim. It so happened that the first musical meeting of these three musicians—profound connoisseurs of the Brazilian musical universe—took place precisely while this piece was playing. This sparked the idea of working together on the repertoire of one of the greatest composers of the last century, Antonio Carlos Jobim. Alongside his great classics, the trio offers sophisticated rearrangements of lesser-known, but equally intense and representative compositions.

Guano Padano

But is it a rock band or a jazz trio? And will that “rustic” name be too transgressive—or not transgressive enough—for the music created by the three imaginative artists? Don't ask too many questions and simply listen. Drawing on their diverse experiences in jazz, rock and singer-songwriter traditions, the trio set off in 2008 down a country lane in the Po Valley that suddenly emerged onto the vast open plains of the American West. And in fact Guano Padano short-circuit convention: vintage and avant-garde become one, while folk and punk are like two sides of the same 45 rpm record. They have attracted the attention of musicians such as Mike Patton, Marc Ribot, Bill Frisell, Chris Speed, Calexico, Mark Orton and Vinicio Capossela, all of whom have collaborated with the trio.
