“The variety of historical testimonies is nearly infinite. Everything that man says or writes, everything that he makes, everything that he touches can and ought to teach us about him”. This quote by Marc Bloch, one of the greatest historians of the 20th century, can be applied to the documents of the Historical Archive of CUBO, the Unipol Group Corporate Museum. As such, insurance contracts, correspondence, accounting records and business communications not only belong to the narrow sphere of economic history but also help us to understand and describe the society of the time and therefore also our own. Understanding the past in order to understand the present and plan for the future; because, as Bloch further explains: “Misunderstanding of the present is the inevitable consequence of ignorance of the past”.​
