Meetings on TV series 11 February - 26 May 2020

The collection designed and coordinated by Stefania Carini explores seriality in television which, with its mechanisms of repetition and variation, has shown its potential in recent years in various cultural sectors, allong with its sociological aspect.

Three dates to explore: the longest serial in Italy – Sanremo and its first 70 years, the redemption of Italian fiction programmes and the promotion of artistic language in television productions.  

Sanremo 70

Sanremo turns 70. The Italian Festival of Song is the longest serial event on television. It offers a particular look at Italy precisely for this reason. How has the festival told the story of our country? Evening talk about the festival’s history and commentary on the latest edition.

With **Stefania Carini**, journalist, author and lecturer at the Cattolica University of Milan, * *Eddy Anselmi**, historian of the Festival, and **Luca Barra**, associate professor of television and media at the University of Bologna.

How have Italian fiction programmes changed over time?
As the years pass, the Italian fiction genre on TV is today experiencing a real rebirth, as it has been able to raise the bar and make its narrative more complex.

With **Stefania Carini**, journalist, author and lecturer at the Cattolica University of Milan, **Barbara Petronio**, screenwriter (Romanzo Criminale, Suburra, head of drama at Lotus, David di Donatello for Indivisibili), **Gina Gardini** producer and showrunner of Romanzo Criminale, Gomorra, Suburra, Zero Zero Zero.

How TV series see Art, from the novel to cinema, and are they themselves Art? From Mad Men to Twin Peaks, from The Simpsons to The Young Pope, TV tells the story of art, imitating images of the great artists of painting and cinema. But TV itself knows how to make art, giving weight to the visual and narrative side as well as cinema and novels.
