Introduction to investigative journalism

A series of webinars for adults, and in particular university students, to raise awareness and critically reflect on the issue of education, on the impact of Covid on distance learning and on how, through the funds of the PNRR (National Recovery and Resilience Plan), we can improve the quality and accessibiliy of education, reduce social inequalities and combat the phenomenon of NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training), and school or university drop-out. After the explanation of the most important theoretical and practical knowledge of journalism and publishing, the participants will be involved in the editorial activities of the association, creating editorial content.

 

With Scomodo​

The Scomodo Model

  • Saturday 9 October 2021 at 10:30 - 13:00

The first meeting will be divided into two phases. The first section will focus on getting to know each other through ice-breaking activities and the use of break-out rooms that will allow the students to share and understand each other's interests. Participants will be asked about their areas of study and interests, along with introductory questions regarding the central theme of their professional backgrounds in order to better direct the subsequent meetings.

The second webinar will illustrate the activities and skills necessary for the creation of a newspaper, and will introduce participants to the concept of participatory journalism and how it relates to printed publications.

The importance of information sources. School and environment

  • Saturday 6 November 2021 at 10:30 - 13:00

The webinar will focus on the research and evaluation of the sources (direct and indirect) that can be used to write an article and will highlight the problems related to information that passes exclusively through social channels.
This meeting will also provide the theoretical and practical tools to identify reliable sources and recognise fake news.

Introduction to investigative journalism and case studies

We will work together with the participants on the issue of safety in schools, an area to which Scomodo has already devoted particular attention in the last editorial year, highlighting the pronounced gap between Northern and Southern Italy and the main critical issues in some areas of the Italian regions.

Editorial plenary, School and inequalities

  • Saturday 4 December 2021 at 10:30 - 13:00

This webinar will illustrate the editorial process behind the publication of an edition of Scomodo and will involve participants in the association's editorial plenary, simulating the creation of an edition of Scomodo. The editorial plenary will focus on the macro-theme of school as a tool for the reduction of inequalities, focusing in particular on the gender gap and social inequalities.
